General Course Curriculum

This course at R.C. Palmer follow the British Columbia Ministry of Education curriculum. Palmer have standard Mathematics courses (foundational Math 10 or Workplace Math 10) as well as the advanced Incentive Math 10. Based on the general BC Grade 10 curriculum, key topics typically covered include Algebra and Number (polynomials, factoring, real numbers, rational exponents), Measurement (surface area and volume, linear measurement, proportional reasoning), Trigonometry (primary trigonometric ratios), and Relations and Functions.

The Foundations of Mathematics and Pre-calculus 10 course in palmer is mainly for students aiming for post-secondary studies that require calculus, which is why most students in palmer chose this course. The course focuses on several key areas, including Algebra and Number (exponent laws and different number systems), Polynomials (multiplying and factoring trinomials and differences of squares), Relations and Functions (domain, range, function notation),and Trigonometry (trigonometric ratios). The curriculum emphasizes the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills necessary for future math courses like Pre-calculus 11 and 12.

Workplace Mathematic 10

The Workplace Mathematics 10 course in palmer is mainly for students planning to enter the workforce directly or enroll in trades programs. The  course mainly about on math stuff that is needed in everyday life , and some  financial stuff (income, taxes and deductions). For example, measurement skills (units, surface area and volume), geometry and trigonometry (angles and trigonometric ratios in real-world scenarios), and interpreting various types of graphs. The course helps students to develop problem-solving skills, and much much more!
