Residential School

Residential schools in Canada were government‑funded, church owned school that were owned for more than a century with the goal of forcing Indigenous children to learn into white‑Canadian culture. More than 150,000 First Nations children were taken from their families, they can't to speak their languages, and living in bad conditions. There is a lot loss of culture, language, and identity, and many children died inside the school. The last Residential school closed in 1996.
