What is Biology?
Biology is the scientific study of life and any living organisms that iis living on earth, from the smallest, microscopic cells, like human cells, and plant cells to massive ecosystems. Students will learn the structure of different kind of living things, function, growth, and evolution of all living things on Earth by learning cell theory, genetics, and natural selection and more. Students will have a few labs and mainly one massive biology project during the unit. For Grade 10s, they might have a biology project that is about genetics and DNA of different animals.
Course Outline
Biology 10 mainly on genetics and the mechanisms of biological diversity, such as how DNA structure and function through genes and chromosomes. Students examine patterns of inheritance(the process where genetic information (DNA) is passed from parents to offspring, while also they will learn how mutations, natural selection, and artificial selection will lead to the evolution of species and adaptive radiation( A change from a common ancestor into a number of different species that "radiate out" to inhabit different niches).
